KoAGI was designated as an Urban Forest Support Center*.
The Urban Forest Support Center is an organization under the Korea Forest Service aimed at conserving urban forest ecosystems and improving urban environments. It supports projects related to the establishment and management of urban forests and conducts relevant research.

As the scope of work expanded to include the promotion of garden culture and garden industry, KIAM was reorganized into the Korea Arboreta and Gardens Institute (KoAGI).
